On October 1, 2015, Adblock Plus announced its intention to form a committee of independent members to take over the main parts of its Acceptable Ads initiative, a program that up to that point had been managed entirely by Adblock Plus’s parent company, eyeo GmbH.
This committee controls and amends the Acceptable Ads Standards. In doing so, it governs the Acceptable Ads initiative by creating standards for ad types that users of ad-blocking software deem acceptable and that bring value to publishers and advertisers.
The committee has the authority to dictate the management and policies of the Acceptable Ads initiative, including changes to the process of publishing the whitelist and excluding entities from getting whitelisted if they do not comply with the Acceptable Ads Standards.
